Finally moved in (with WORKING internet)

We're finally moved in and we have our internet up... and after a few days.... WORKING. Toothless is happy as a clam. He's been hopping around the apartment and getting his nose into all kinds of stuff (who knew he could fit in behind a bookshelf!) The black cat is the long awaited picture of Dot (with her fasionable red/green nail caps, she's not hiding under the bed, it's just her preferred "sleeping" area.

When we introduced Toothless and Dot, Toothless was all "Well HELLO there" and trotted right up. Dot on the other hand was VERY nervous and got upset, so she's spent a few days in her own room, then ventured out. She's still not too happy with meeting a new cat but she doesn't hiss/growl unless Toothless is face/face.

Only a WEEK!

I'm not packing all the stuff for moving, and all I can think when I pack the stuff we've bought for Toothless, is that when I unpack it, I can let Toothless play with it right away. I'm beginning to think my boyfriend thinks I'm becoming a crazy cat lady slowly. I was talking about Toothless the other day, and what I was thinking about him, and my boyfriend kept giving me this look of "Crazy Cat Lady".

8 More

Ugh! 8 more days! One more day until only a week... then only 6 more... then 5.... I can't wait this long, I'm going to be old and gray by the time I get Toothless! Now I have to focus mostly on packing though :(

Single digits

Only 9 more days! Nine! WOW! Time is still going by painfully slow though! I REALLY can't wait to get Toothless! I'm running out to the vets on Tuesday to get some enzyme solution for his mouth, but I really can't believe I'll have him HERE soon! The foster mom has been sending me picture after adorable picture of him while I'm away and he's so cute, it makes me want to go get him now and snuggle him all the way home (though that may make driving more difficult).

10 DAYS!

Even Toothless looks like he can't believe there's only 10 more days until I get him!
PetSmart is having a HUGE sale this weekend, but none of it is anything we need (or would've needed if I hadn't bought it already). I find it kinda funny that all the items they're putting on sale are small items that are already a dollar to buy. You'd think they'd want to put bigger items on for sale for their "Big Sale" of the month. I also don't understand why litterboxes cost so much? They already know that I'll continue to clean it and fill it with litter (which I have to buy over and over and over), I'm not buying it for looks. They should think of litter boxes like cell-phones, the price of the phone the company couldn't care about, the price of the PLAN that you'll be continuing to pay is where they want to get you.

12 More Days

I'm still missing Toothless. I'm going out today to get a nice warm towel or blanket to put as a soft bottom in the carrier. I was right too, having the carrier is making it worse for me to hold off going to get him. It's getting to the point that I'm counting down not just by days but by THINGS as well. For example, after my midterm yesterday I filled my car up with gas. Since my car is SUPER good at conserving gas I know that I will be using the gas I filled up with to go pick up Toothless. Or I was packing the cat stuff we have to take to our new apartment, and as I was packing all I could think was "The next time I take these out of the box Toothless will be in our new apartment!".

Toothless' Update

Toothless went for a check-up yesterday to make sure he's all well after the surgery that made him toothless. It looks like he's healing great! I'm so happy! I just went out today and bought a BOATLOAD of temptations at the dollar store (I can't hold off for much can I?). I'm also applying for a job at PetSmart so fingers crossed, I'll get to deal with kitties all day!!

15 to go

Ugh I just wrote a midterm, and now I'm waiting on another one on Wednesday. I think the only thing that's keeping me from constantly thinking about Toothless is the midterms.... it makes me wonder how bad my Toothless addiction will become once I'm done my midterms.

Round of Applesauce

I already miss Toothless. My boyfriend and I have been discussing where our furniture will go in our new apartment, and how we're going to get it there. Since I'm not too good at lifting heavy things (my little arm muscles hate me when I try), I'll be going to pick up Toothless as my boyfriend and his friends move the stuff out and into the apartment (I have to disassemble everything the night before to make up for my "non-work").

We had another discussion today about how we should position the bed and such. My boyfriend had to stop me from worrying about where the scratching posts and litter box would go. 16 more days and they ARE long!

Smell my foot

Isn't his little paw the SWEETEST? We went to see Toothless today, and it WAS hard not to just pick him up and put him in my car to bring him home. It was really funny when we arrived because he was exploring the house after being let out of his "healing room". The flashy lights, squeaky mouses, and lazer dots were more than he could possibly pay attention to, so I had to sneak in some petting by coaxing him up on my lap (with toys of course). He's going to get a check-up on Tuesday and hopefully his staple in his neck can come out.
This will be the longest 17 days of my life!

18 Days Left

Hehehehe I love this picture! It makes me feel like the caption for it should be "Insert food here" with an arrow pointing into him mouth.

I can't wait! I'll be going tomorrow to go and see Toothless again, and I will NOT forget my camera this time! It's going to take all my strength not to take the carrier with me and take him home right then and there. I'm also (but not as) excited for the lunch we're going to beforehand, I LOVE Toronto food, it just seems fresher. I think some of it is because of locally grown foods, but I also have a feeling that Toronto gets "first-pick" of the batches that ship in, since they're really a major city in Ontario.

19 days and counting

This is the carrier, minus the comfy stuff I plan on putting in there so that Toothless won't be uncomfortable for the hour and a half long drive back to my apartment. I'm so glad that this carrier comes with that little white food and water dish on the door. I'm a little worried about how deep the dish is though, I don't see water staying in there too long before sloshing onto the floor, and all the comfy blankets I plan on putting in there.

I was showing my boyfriend all the stuff I have, and all the stuff I still need to get, brush, nail clippers, food, blankets etc. he's been laughing at how much thought I put into the stuff I buy (eg. I checked the holes on the door part of the carrier to make sure that they were big enough that if a paw accidentally went through, he wouldn't get stuck). He's also been having a giggle at all the "prep" I'm doing for getting the cat, like reading articles on how to put the cat in the carrier without scaring it, and what other people have fed their younger cats that have no teeth, not that he discourages it, but I'll read an article about a cat that ate only wet food, and that after a while it had digestive problems, my boyfriend had to reassure me that feeding Toothless wet food a few times during a week wouldn't kill him. Can you tell I'm going to be over-prepared when i get this cat?

Broken In

I did it, I finally gave-in and got a carrier. It's the PetMate kennel cab medium, and I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow. I WAS interested in the Catit Cabrio carrier, and i've heard nothing but good things about it, but $80 is just too much for a carrier, and I found out about the carrier the day after it was on sale for $30. I figured I'd get the kennel cab though because the medium has enough room that for any voyage he should be able to stretch in it, but it's small enough it'll fit in my car, it also has a place where the seat belt slides under to hold the carrier still, and also included a food and water dish that latch onto the door (which is good because I was worried that the normal plastic carriers didn't have food/water dishes.

Above you can see Toothless with a little bit of a neck-do. But my eyes are always drawn to the pink nose first when I look at this picture, I barely even noticed the missing fur until I looked down from his adorable face. Apparently he's well on his way to recovery, he's eating a lot (which is good to see he's bouncing back), and he's playing with toys and using his mouth. I hope this means he's in little to no pain now (I'm sure he is because it sounded like the vet took really good care of him), and I can't wait to see him this weekend!

Happy face-snuggles

This is Toothless being his cute and adorable self. It's getting so hard to wait to get Toothless, every time I see a new picture or a video like this my heart melts again. I really can't wait to see him this weekend, I just have to make it through this SUPER long week.

Home for the Recovery

Home at last! Toothless went back home with his foster mom yesterday. You can see in the picture where they stapled his neck closed so that it could heal. He looks like such a happy cat (I have more pictures that I'll share later). I'm so glad that his gums look to have improved, and if I apply an enzyme medication to his gums everyday, the hope is that the swelling will stay down. I can't wait until I get to go and pick him up! We're going back to the home to see him this Saturday (weather permitting), and I hope to get a TONNE of pictures of him then. I'm getting very close to giving in and buying a carrier now, I'm trying hard to hold off, but it's getting harder and harder now that I have toys and scratching posts and the litterbox.

Toys Toys Toys

These are the toys I got so far (plus litter box). The litter box (booda makes it) is supposed to be one of the best, and everywhere I go and ask about this litter box they tell me it's the best. So when it finally went on sale I had to get it. Below that you can see at the back of the picture the fuzzy balls I had borrowed a picture from PetSmart for, they were only 2-3$ and I know that Dot (who's evading my camera like crazy) loves to play with them. The blue-blob on the left hand side is a mouse that lights up and squeaks when hit, the foster mom for Toothless had mentioned that Toothless really liked playing with those so I had actively searched it out. Beside/below that is the teaser I bought, it has 3 interchangeable ticklers on it, one feather, one shiny stripes, and one fabric stripes. My hope with buying this is that there will be a tickler for both cats among the three (in case one cat doesn't like one type of tickler).
Toothless should be going back to the foster-mom's today (assuming all things went well last night with his food), apparently he's eating all on his own, but they were keeping the feeding tube in to make sure that if he was having trouble feeding himself, he wouldn't go hungry. I'm so excited that it sounds like he's doing well!!!

More toys! (and a litter box)

I got this picture from the PetSmart website. This is one of the many many toys I bought today at the store today (they're on sale I'd highly recommend taking a look while they're on sale)! I'll get some pictures with my camera later of all the stuff (I'm too busy playing with it). I've been eying the Cat-it Cabrio carrier recently... It looks really nice and it has an in-built food and water bowl (which would be great for an hour and a half drive home), and it looks like it has a lot of room. I missed the sale they were having on it at petcetra though (darn) so I'll just have to wait.

Operation Done!

Toothless got out of operation at about 2:30pm yesterday (Wednesday). They couldn't see him Tuesday because it was a 3 hour operation that they had to set time aside for. He's already sitting up, and will hopefully be good to go home with the foster-mom on Saturday. I really wanted to go and see him but again, we've got some issues, not to mention my boyfriend's car broke down today so we're down to only one car, and it doesn't handle snow too well, so on top of everything else, I'll just convince my boyfriend we should go visit toothless another day.

Operation Day Round 2 *ding ding*

Toothless' Operation didn't happen yesterday. The vet thinks he'll be able to do it today, so I'm still constantly thinking about toothless! The vet also decided that toothless will still have his canines, just not his other teeth, because his teeth are still healthy. I'll just need to keep an eye on those teeth to make sure I catch anything that might happen (we're still going to call him toothless regardless). I also think we're going to skip going to see him, just to leave him in as comfortable surroundings as he can be while his mouth heals. I remember how miserable I was when I had my teeth pulled, and Toothless won't even know what's going on until he wakes up after the surgery!!!
On a more positive note I'll be going out later today to go and pick out toys for Toothless. I got a lot of recommendations of toys from the foster mom, but also just looking around his current home gave me a lot of ideas. I also really want to get a carrier but I'm holding off with what little willpower I have left.

Operation Day :(

Today's the day that Toothless officially becomes Toothless. I'm really hoping that this will clear everything up, and that the surgery goes smoothly for him! I'm still shopping for cat toys and litter boxes for him, and looking for the perfect cat carrier for him! I have to hold off on the cat carrier though, first off because I don't really need it quite yet, and secondly once I get it I'll get really excited and impatient about getting him on the 1st.

The beginning of the toy "Flood"

I went to Petcetera today, and I fond two amazing deals! The black and white tower was originally $130, but was on sale for $38. The other post we got was originally $50 (though I don't understand why) and was on sale for $9. So I finally have the first two toys of my new cat's toy collection! I also don't worry about the cow-print on the other post (I think the print is hideous), because dot is black, and most likely the whole thing while eventually turn to grey/black. I also might be seeing Toothless again this weekend (though we haven't decided if we will have the time), so I hope to get some more pictures soon ^^.

Mine mine mine!

I went to see Toothless yesterday, and he's ADORABLE! There was a point where he curled up on my lap and grabbed my hand with his paw to pull it up into his head! I know my heart melted at that moment! He was also so funny running around and chasing a little mouse when we arrived. He just couldn't get out of "play" mode, so we brought out a laser toy, and he was completely hilarious as he chased it around and stood right in-front of the laser several times while looking around frantically for the dot.
Then the crumpled piece of paper came out. I never really sat down to think about it before, but cats can turn the simplest thing into the funniest thing you've ever seen. Toothless chased the ball of paper around the bottom of the table, then under a couch, then around the table again, then around the chair, then back under the table! Even when I picked him up to see if he'd cuddle me, he was still on the hunt for the paper ball.
I paid for him before we left and now I just need to wait until I can bring him home! It won't come fast enough as far as I'm concerned! I can't tell if I'm more excited to move to our new apartment, or get Toothless!

Toothless' Story

Toothless is going to be adopted by me on March 1st (though I'll own him since January 29th). Toothless was in a kill shelter on death-row until an adoption agent saw him and saved him by putting him in a foster home. He now lives with a bunch of other kittens about his age in his foster home and apparently he's quite the little ball of fun.
Recently it was decided that he would need surgery to remove his teeth, since his gums were bad. They expect this to fix the issue, and I simply cannot WAIT for us to move to our new apartment so I can move him in!

As for why I'm writing this post, I realize now that I am so super excited about getting my cat, but there's nothing for me to output all that excited energy into, so I'm creating this for myself, and others who may be suffering from the same thing.
Hope this will help Someone :D

Toothless

Meet toothless! Toothless is currently a TCR cat in a foster home (named Emerson at the moment). I will be going to pay for him on Saturday and he'll be coming home with us on March 1st to his new home!
Although you can see teeth in this picture, toothless is soon to have his teeth removed due to a gum disease, the hope is that when he has his teeth removed, he should be 100% better, and we'll just have to watch what he eats.
He'll be joining our other cat Dot, who I will post pictures of later, my boyfriend Naielo and myself (Thirsha) in our new apartment, and we couldn't be more excited!
   More later, stay tuned!
